What’s our goal?
Half of non-league football’s fans are missing in action.
While women’s football explodes in popularity and the Premier League slowly-but- steadily diversifies, the game’s heart and soul still needs some love: its local clubs.
Working with our lead partner, Altrincham Football Club, the Dames are on a mission to change that forever and get more women into the stands.

We want local clubs to be real community hubs again – in a way that benefits the world inside and outside the grounds.

Local football desperately needs funds if it’s going to survive, and expanding the fanbase is the first step.

Yes! The only thing we ask is that in order to be eligible to be a Match of the Dames “Dame”, you must self-certify that you have never previously been to a game at your local National League club. That’s all.

You’ll need to self-certify that you have never previously been to a game at your local (that is, non-league) club and write a short sentence about why you’d like to be a Dame.
You will also need to agree to be included on photos on the day and to join the group chat after the event so we can start building community with other Dames.

At their heart, the games are a chance to connect with your local community and meet some other amazing Dames. (Oh, and at some point, we’ll all become football fans.)

Of course! It’s important to us that we’re as inclusive as possible and, if your application is successful, we will discuss with you how we can best accommodate your accessibility requirements at our events.

Absolutely! We don’t want Dames to worry about childcare and we’ll make sure any under-16s are made to feel welcome.
Just let us know in advance if you need to bring children with you to the game.
